The Dancers at the End of Time

The Transformation of Miss Mavis Ming: The strange conclusion to a strange series, book five of "The Dancers at the End of Time" stars the dull Miss Mavis Ming, her cynical host Dr. Volospion, and a bird-like man who claims to be A Messiah at the End of Time. In a more coherent plot than most of this series, Fireclown arrives at the End of Time and tries to claim Miss Mavis Ming for his own, despite the unusual opposition of Dr. Volospion, who insists that only if he receives the Holy Grail will Fireclown go free. Will true love conquer all, even if Miss Mavis Ming would rather it didn't? The plot is convoluted, as always, but the characters and theme have more depth than in most of the rest of the series. The characters, as always, are delightful. Nonetheless, I would still only recommend this novel to those that enjoy the strangeness of Terry Pratchett or Douglas Addams, with only part of the humor.
